Response to McCunney et al.: Wind Turbines and Health: An Examination of a Proposed Case Definition

چکیده
Some people living in the environs of industrial wind turbines (IWTs) report experiencing adverse health effects (AHE/IWT). Reported effects include annoyance, sleep disturbance, stress-related health impacts and reduced quality of life. In some cases, families have effectively abandoned their homes, been billeted by wind energy developers or have negotiated financial agreements with developers. McMurtry and Krogh presented Diagnostic criteria for adverse health effects in the environs of wind turbines to assist medical practitioners presented with patients reporting AHE/IWTs. Noise and Health published the views of McCunney et al. that presented critical commentary on these AHE/IWT diagnostic criteria as well as its predecessor, which were presented by McMurtry.

Incorporation of Demand Response Programs and Wind Turbines in Optimal Scheduling of Smart Distribution Networks: A Case Study
Smart distribution networks (SDNs) plays a significant role in future power networks. Accordingly, the optimal scheduling of such networks, which include planning of consumers and production sections, inconsiderably concerned in recent research studies. In this paper, the optimal planning of energy and reserve of SDNs has been studied. Technical constraints of distribution network and power gen...

Model predictive control (MPC) based methods are gaining more and more attention in power converters and electrical drives. Nevertheless, high computational burden of MPC is an obstacle for its application, especially when the prediction horizon increases extends. At the same time, increasing the prediction horizon leads to a superior response. In this paper, a long horizon MPC is proposed to c...
متن کامل"Wind Turbines and Health: A Critical Review of the Scientific Literature".
OBJECTIVE This review examines the literature related to health effects of wind turbines. METHODS We reviewed literature related to sound measurements near turbines, epidemiological and experimental studies, and factors associated with annoyance. RESULTS (1) Infrasound sound near wind turbines does not exceed audibility thresholds. (2) Epidemiological studies have shown associations between...
متن کاملAn occupational risk assessment approach for construction and operation period of wind turbines
As wind energy is one of the most important renewable energy sources over the globe, need for increasing safety for this type of energy is gaining importance. Although this sector is not suffering an excessive amount of fatal injury accidents, there are many aspects open for improvements in occupational health and safety management. The construction and operation processes of wind turbines incl...
متن کاملGA-Based Optimal LQR Controller to Improve LVRT Capability of DFIG Wind Turbines
Nowadays, the doubly-fed induction generators (DFIGs) based wind turbines (WTs) are the dominant type of WTs connected to grid. Traditionally the back-to-back converters are used to control the DFIGs. In this paper, an Indirect Matrix Converter (IMC) is proposed to control the generator. Compared with back-to-back converters, IMCs have numerous advantages such as: higher level of robustness, re...
